About Jon Gillies

Executive Producer Jon Gillies has an extensive and varied background in the creative industries. In addition to his skill as a filmmaker/producer, he is an accomplished photographer, writer, TV ad producer, Graphic Designer, and Website Designer.

He has a BA in Marketing from DePaul University at Barat College, Chicago Il. Jon has spent the past 20 years working with advertising and marketing agencies in Windsor and Detroit. In 2011, Jon founded Iron Street Studio and currently contracts video and design services to clients and partner organizations through that company.

Jon has also been a professional musician. He has appeared on MUCH MUSIC television, The Very Roger Show, 89x radio, 101WRIF, CJAM, 98.7 Brooklyn radio, and regionally toured with his band “Problem to the Solution” from 1995-2001.

He has produced 4 music videos that have aired on MUCH MUSIC. Several of Jon’s commercials have appeared during Hockey Night in Canada on CBC. In 2016 Jon was tasked to produce and shoot a crucial interview with Italian television of Olympic champion Michael Phelps during the 13th FINA World Swimming Championships.

In March 2014, Jon released a feature-length documentary film entitled “Border City Music Project”, some of the cast includes: Noam Chomsky, Mark Farner, Marc Maron, Philp H. Anselmo, and many other notable local and national names. It premiered to a sold-out Capitol Theatre in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and also at the ‘Emagine Theatre’ in Royal Oak, Michigan.

As of 2023, Jon continues to advance and adapt as a highly skilled artist, continuing professional craftsmanship in design, photography, and video production.
